Mam-ma Rice

>> Friday, February 8, 2008

1. basmati rice with raisins, butter, sugar and a little milk
2. almonds
3. banana

I was probably close to 16 years old when I found out that rice wasn't just a breakfast food that my Mam-ma made. It seemed like she boiled it for 3 or 4 hours but I was probably just impatient - then she'd let me add all the butter and sugar that I wanted. Because that's what grandma's do.

butter and sugar in your rice? hmm sounds interesting. I've always had it sort of plain.

Hi! I love your blog! I'm the tasty tiffin mom. Raisins on basmati rice - mmmm... My little one would love that!

mmmm I've never had rice with butter and sugar, but I imagine it would be a wonderful comfort food. Especially if the butter gets all melty... and maybe with some brown sugar... or even sticky rice! aaaah wow, I'm definitely going to have to try this soon! Thanks so much for the idea!
By the way, I love your bentos in general! I aspire to one day make bentos for myself... they are so cute and healthy!

Oh my gosh what a cute and tasty looking bento. I just bought this exact same container this weekend. Same color and everything. I found it and blue ones at the dollar store. I love when i find bento stuff for cheap. Now i must start making myself some breakfast bento's. You have inspired me.
