Spicy Turbot Roll

>> Friday, November 2, 2007

Somewhat of an experimental roll today. Boy had an end piece and pronounced it "spicy" and "delicious" so hopes are high!

1. spicy turbot roll
2. tiny bell pepper
3. grape tomatoes
4. soy bottle
5. tangerine wedges

Spicy Mayo Sauce
1 T mayo
1/4 t Sriracha

Mix together and use!

This makes the right amount for one maki roll.

It's fun to use the Japanese Kewpie brand mayonnaise, not to mention it's convenient squirt bottle packaging, but regular mayo will work too. Just don't use Miracle Whip type products. If you don't have Sriracha there's probably no hope for you, but Sambal Oelekwould be an okay (if slightly less smooth) alternative. I suppose you could use also try Tabasco with maybe a bit of sugar added to sweeten it up.

I was just looking through your blog and your bentos are fantastic! At the risk of sounding pretentious, I have to say that these are both feasts for the stomach and the eyes.

It's okay Kate, I love pretentiousness, especially disguised as compliments to me! Thanks for visiting :)
